Family Services
The Technology Academy offers expanded services to include the families of students, which serves as a vital component for the program. Classes are taught in both English and Spanish. Our expanded programs include:
- Community mentoring: Interact with community partners for the benefit of clients,
- Life and parenting skills: Use of financial institutions (banks, credit cards, mortgage lenders, credit report services); parental issues (raising a teenager, parenting children who have immigrated from the home country, child development, discipline),
- Vocational and technical education: Develop an intensive School to Work program of instruction in technology related skills in integrated environments; Basic computer literacy and skills using Microsoft Office XP,
- English as a second language: English as another language is perhaps the single most necessary skill for successful acculturation into the United States. Classes will be structured for the varying levels of literacy of our clients,
- Substance abuse: Substance abuse and mental health counseling is provided (Counseling will be available to all clients at a wide variety of times),
- Employment training: Employment training with supported employment to those in need (business and pre-apprenticeship); Students will be offered not only a wider variety of job placements, but on site training and higher entry-level positions.
